Nova Scotia’s cool-climate provides the ideal conditions for creating complex, naturally balanced icewines with tremendous ageability.
Our 2016 estate icewine harvest took place on December 10 th when temperatures on the Lightfoot Estate Vineyard in Wolfville dropped to -8 -8.9C at dawn. A small-lot of grapes which had frozen naturally on the vine were handpicked and transported to the winery for immediate pressing.

The frozen grapes were pressed with our traditional Marzola basket press to extract a luscious, concentrated juice. Fermentation was long and cool and took place in stainless steel. This wine was aged for over a year before release.
